Insert Hero's Walk Here

Shooting down projects like Dante

I have to say I'm blessed. I some how managed to fight back from eighty-eight percent in the class and a extremely worried and confused shop partner to a 94.5% grade in the class. I scored 3rd on the final and only by 8 points was i from the leader. God is good. Using some mad hustle in the shop and focusing on getting stuff done, we pulled out from behind (despite and incident with me getting hit with a hammer by my partner) and got all the projects done. We squeezed out 2 more additional projects and i managed to come in the top 3 on my shop test to combine together and give me a 94.5! I'm like super stoked sure I'm not up there with the Elite guys but my class room grade was in the top 5 but the shop grades of other teams who completed EVERYTHING that was possible pulled them ahead. Well next semester starts Monday, guess it is true..... no rest for the wicked...... wickedly sweet!

Battle Stations

Nothing like going home after a hard days work.

Went into shop today guns blazing (not literally), and feeling pretty good. My shop partner wasn't so confidant but i was i figured we would smash this out and get it over with as long as the hammer stayed in the drawer. I grabbed some tools and got to work spec ed everything out and bam she was done. With something going slightly better than Friday my shop partner was finally fired up and he was ready to get some work done. We knocked out 2 more projects leaving 1 left with 2 and 1/2 days to go. What I'm hoping to do is get in to class tomorrow knock this test out and hit the shop hard. If god willing we finish early we can start working our grade higher by doing extra credit. I worked hard today time for a nap. Wait the building is shaking guess that severe weather advisory was true after all. Oh well nothing like rain to get a better nap eh?

Mentally Exhausted

Pretty much the same expression I had by the end of the day.

You know, I think its actually worse to be mentally exhausted than physically exhausted. The work I put in mentally at school when working with my partner seems more grueling than the actual physical work. I don't mind hes never actually done any mechanic work, everyone has to start some where but when you don't listen to instructions from the teachers or just ignore the procedure and instructions for something ... that can get to be a bit much. For instance today we were installing the back gear box to a Fuller 9 speed transmission. OK just so you know assembled it weighs 750lbs and is pretty much one of the biggest transmissions i ever worked on. The back gearbox weighs about 90 to 120lbs so you need a hydraulic lift to carry the thing its no way you can hold it and install it on to the back of the transmission and engage the gears.

So we have this back box and the instructions say, "using the lift to support the back box, place the back box gears in mesh with the transmission gears and then turn the input shaft and let the box gears pull the box onto the transmission. Do not force the back box onto the transmission as gear binding will occur." OK so i guess he missed the bold print part because when the back box decided that it didn't want to cooperate he broke out the hammer. Now its late in the day i had taken 2 tests and dealt with all the non instruction reading, step skipping, and hammer using I could stand for the day so i sat idly by and watched the back box being pounded on. When the instructor came to check our work and he went to rotate the transmission to see if it was installed correctly guess what.... it was binding! So with this being the 3rd day we have worked on this transmission and time running out we didn't have time to waste. I can see if it was an error because we didn't know what to do and we just did it wrong, but this was a just plain lets get it done who gives a #$^% mistake. So the last hours of the day were spent taking the whole back box back off and this time not using a hammer and it worked. Bad news is we have 3, possibly 4 more days to get the shop work completed or we wont get a good grade. Come Monday the law just might have to get laid down, either work according to the instructions or I'm working alone.

Instruments of Destruction

I am grateful for being a male ( sorry ladies but yeah i couldn't live with those issues) but dog gone it I'm sick of shaving my face every day and my face is letting me know its not happy. Pretty much every time i shave I'm bleeding from about 5 to 6 places and I'm using a sensitive skin shaving cream. My face just is not every day blade approved or something cause the burning afterward (no not Home Alone aftershave scene here) it annoying and not to mention painful. Guess all i can say is ladies just be glad you don't have to deal with this too.
